The subject I chose for my passion project is the passion of being a teacher. I've always wanted to be a teacher because all the teachers I've ever had have been amazing, and so inspirational and helpful for the long run. If you have a good teacher, they can change your life. This also goes the opposite way for if you have ever had a bad teacher. I mainly chose this occupation because I've always been pretty good in school, and kept my grades, and lots of people always tell me that I’m good at getting to the point and being precise with my work. I also like to boss people around.
The passion project I find was quite hard and quite easy at the same time. If you had no idea what you wanted to do in the future, I found that it was pretty hard. I mean, if you already know what you want to do, then you would automatically just go straight to it. I, on the other hand, have absolutely no idea what I want to do in the future, so when I got this project, I was quite overwhelmed. Being the procrastinator that I am, I tried to hold it off as long as I could. When I actually got down to work and found all the different occupations I could do, I found it was easier once I narrowed them down. I found about five I liked, but Teacher was at the beginning of my list. To become a teacher, you need a minimum of three-year post-secondary degree from an acceptable post-secondary institution (high school: gr.11) and successfully completed a one year acceptable teacher education program (teacher’s college: one year). These are the minimum requirements for a teacher, which is pretty good. I find that when I looked this up, I would have expected something more.
I listed some good things and bad things of being a teacher as I found this would be the best option to do, if I wanted to make this passion into a career. I decided that if I were to be a teacher, I would definitely be a grade 4 teacher. I find that little kids are so much easier to look after than secondary students. If I had to teach a specific grade in high school, I would chose to teach a Grade 9 class, that way I would be able to mold the freshmen kids into proper children, like us. I would probably teach English or History because I would want a boring course (sorry if you like those courses. :p) so that I could put my own spin on stuff and make it really fun. Like how teachers would tell you about the ‘magic e’ or how to never forget the ‘fish hook’ on the G. On the other hand, it would take quite a lot of free time away, volunteering for coaching sports etc, but I find that you would be able to help kids on a more valuable level. I find that high school is where you ‘find yourself’ in a way, because you find the career and the person you want to be in here. As an end note I find that this job would never be boring. Even though you would get pretty tired from standing, writing, talking etc all day, I find that everyday would always be different with new people and new issues. I would like that because I find reoccuring change in better than no change at all.
